João Ribeirinha:

“Born in Macau and raised between Portugal and Macau, I have always been drawn to noticing the small differences and peculiarities of both cultures. Film photography became my way of making sense of those contrasts — not through technical perfection, but by capturing fleeting stories in light and shadow.

I enjoy photography for the simple fun of it, like painting a scene on canvas with tones and light. My focus is often on portraits, street life, and everyday moments, where small stories unfold naturally. I am also drawn to construction sites — their raw atmosphere and the way nature always seems to merge back with human-made structures.

I do not follow a particular school or idolize a specific photographer. I shoot because I enjoy it. Every frame is an experiment, a small story told for no other reason than the joy of capturing it. For me, film is less about rules and more about enjoying the process of seeing and capturing the world around me.”
